Welcome to the 8th Infantry Division’s awards page. Here you will find the information on what awards are available to all members of the 8th ID and how to earn each of them. For all awards listed, you may only display one version of each award at any time. At the bottom is a guide on how to display these awards in line with actual US Army regulations at the time of World War II.
Realism Awards
Badges
Combat Infantryman’s Badge
Awarded to any member of 8th ID who participates in an official realism, internal or external as designated by the realism leader. Awarded after 1st, 3rd and 5th official realisms.
Combat Medic’s Badge
Awarded to any member of 8th ID who participates in an official realism and serves as a medic class. Awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd official realisms.
Ribbons
*Each realism match only awards up to one unit citation. You can not earn a Meritorious Unit Citation and a Presidential Unit Citation in the same match.
Meritorious Unit Citation
Awarded to any member of 8th ID who participates in an official realism that results in a win (other than 3-0). Awarded for 1st, 3rd, 5th, 8th, 10th and 12th time meeting this criteria.
Presidential Unit Citation
Awarded to any member of 8th ID who participates in an official realism that results in a 3-0 win. Awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th time meeting this criteria.
Prisoner of War Ribbon
Awarded to any member of the 8th ID who participates in an official realism that results in a 0-3 loss. Awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th time meeting this criteria.
American Defense Service Ribbon
Awarded to any member of the 8th ID who serves as a realism leader in an official realism, internal or external as designated by the leader and command staff. Awarded for 1st, 3rd, 5th, 8th, 10th and 12th time meeting this criteria.
Distinguished Service Cross Ribbon
Awarded to any member of the 8th ID who participates in an official realism, internal or external as designated by the leader, and accumulates 12 or more kills. Awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th time meeting this criteria.
Silver Star Ribbon
Awarded to any member of the 8th ID who participates in an official realism, internal or external as designated by the leader, and accumulates between 8 and 11 kills. Awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th time meeting this criteria.
Bronze Star Ribbon
Awarded to any member of the 8th ID who participates in an official realism, internal or external as designated by the leader, and accumulates between 5 and 7 kills. Awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th time meeting this criteria.
Army Achievement Ribbon
Awarded to any member of the 8th ID who participates in an official realism and does not die in any round, including AvA. Awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th time meeting this criteria.
Purple Heart Ribbon
Awarded to any member of the 8th ID who participates in an official realism and is killed in all played rounds. Awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th time meeting this criteria.
Bronze Star Ribbon for Valor
Awarded to any member of the 8th ID who participates in an official realism, internal or external as designated by the leader, and whose heroic or meritorious actions are greatly above the expectation and have a direct effect on the course of the match. There is no requirement or limit to the number of this award given per match. It will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th time meeting this criteria.
Service Time Awards
Service Stripes
Service stripes awarded to members of 8th ID based on time in unit. They are awarded to members every 6 months after joining the unit.
Pathfinder Badge
The pathfinder badge is awarded to any member of the 8th ID who has completed one continuous year of service. Awarded once per member.
Campaign Awards
World War II 2021 Realism Campaign
All awards earned from previous units are allowed to be displayed for this campaign. You must display them in the new format outlined below, however.
World War II Victory Ribbon
Awarded to any member of 8th ID for participating in a 2021 WW2 Realism Campaign monthly event. Awarded for participating in 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and all 12 months.
European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon
Awarded for winning an official realism match during the 2021 WW2 Realism Campaign on qualified map as determined by the campaign organizer. Limited to one.
Asian Pacific Campaign Ribbon
Awarded for winning an official realism match during the 2021 WW2 Realism Campaign on qualified map as determined by the campaign organizer. Limited to one.
As the 8th Infantry Division participates in more campaigns or special events, associated awards will be added here.Individual Recognition Awards
Good Conduct Ribbon
Awarded to any member of the 8th ID by the Command Staff in recognition for their hard work and dedication to the unit. Awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th time meeting this criteria.
Meritorious Service Ribbon
Awarded to any member of the 8th ID by the Command Staff in recognition for going above and beyond the expectations of their position and/or rank in service to the unit and community. Awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th time meeting this criteria.
Distinguished Service Ribbon
Awarded every six months to one officer who has been voted as having the largest contribution to the unit. Voted on by all current NCOs within the unit every June and December. Awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th time meeting this criteria.
Army Commendation Ribbon
Awarded every three months to one NCO who has been voted as having the largest contribution to the unit. Voted on by all current officers within the unit every March, June, September, and December. Awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th time meeting this criteria.
Soldier’s Ribbon
Awarded every three months to one non-commissioned member (recruit through private first class) who has been voted as having the largest contribution to the unit. Voted on by all current NCOs within the unit every March, June, September, and December. Awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th time meeting this criteria.
Armed Forces Service Ribbon
Awarded every month to the top 3 members of the unit with the most logged time in the 8th ID’s public server. Awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th time meeting this criteria.
Training Awards
Army Service Ribbon
Awarded to all members upon completion of both their required Basic Combat Training and Advanced Combat Training after joining the 8th ID. Awarded only once.Professional Development Ribbon
Awarded to any member of the 8th ID who has completed an approved Soldier Development Course (SDC) and has met all the requirements for wearing the ribbon. Awarded for every subsequent SDC completed, silver star appurtenance represents 6 awards.
Special Event Awards
Event Recognition Ribbon
Awarded to all members who participate in an event run by the 8th ID that is deemed recognition worthy by the Command Staff. Events can include internal realisms, bingos, gun games or any other special events. Awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th time meeting this criteria.
Job Awards
Ribbons
Legion of Merit Ribbon
Awarded to members of the 8th ID who have been entrusted to have admin rights and have completed the admin training course for the DOD:S and Discord server.
Badges
Awarded to members of the 8th ID upon being accepted as a member of the department to which the badge is attributed. Members may continue to wear the badge even after they have completed their time working in the department to which the badge is attributed.

Challenge Coin
Awarded to any member of the 8th ID by the Commanding Officer based on their deeds, merits, and contributions to the unit.
